“What I find most refreshing about Rob is his natural understanding of therapeutic power present in the creative arts. I met Rob as a patient, I left him as a poet.” Lydia Towsey, Advocacy Worker, Leicestershire Assertive Outreach Service

“It’s been really great to work with you and very satisfying to have had such consistent and positive feedback from all the artists who’ve been left informed and inspired (a heady combination) in your wake!”
E Horwood, Find Your Talent
After being commissioned by Apples & Snakes and the National Association of Writers in Education to develop workshops on mental health for artists, Rob now leads these on a regular basis. Themes explored include the links between creativity and mental health, the therapeutic uses of creative activity, reducing effects of labelling and stigmatisation, and the responsibilities of a therapeutic relationship, user empowerment and social inclusion.
“(One participant) rarely smiled, and was clearly uncomfortable through a large part of the workshops. However, through the workshops, and thanks to encouragement and work from the whole group she performed her jokes several times in short sections throughout the performance on the night with a beaming smile.” Project Evaluation Report, BrightSparks Arts in Mental Health Group
